Assets and Deposits Expand Rapidly
Gadaa Bank’s balance sheet expanded substantially during the year. Total assets reached Birr 16.79 billion by June 30, 2026, up 66 percent from Birr 10.14 billion a year earlier.

Expansion Across Customers and Branches
Gadaa Bank’s customer accounts rose from 575,977 to 1,005,014, taking the bank past the one-million-customer mark.
The expansion was accompanied by the opening of 10 additional branches, bringing the nationwide branch network to 110.
Digital banking also continued to expand. The bank reported more than 300,000 subscribers across its digital channels, while separate reporting puts mobile banking subscribers at 296,684 at the end of the financial year.
Gadaa Securities Dealer, the bank’s capital-markets arm, had also opened brokerage accounts for approximately 3,000 clients since its establishment.
Capital Markets Become Part of the Growth Strategy
The results come as Gadaa Bank deepens its presence in Ethiopia’s emerging capital market.
The bank was listed on the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) in June 2025. It is also currently conducting a follow-on share offering involving more than one million shares, with the offering price set at Birr 1,050 per share. The subscription period runs through September 27, 2026.
The bank’s rapid balance-sheet expansion therefore comes alongside efforts to raise additional equity and broaden its investor base.
Asset Quality Remains Strong
Despite the rapid expansion, Gadaa Bank reported a 12.3 percent capital adequacy ratio and a 0.7 percent non-performing loan ratio as of June 2026.
The bank’s chairman, Hassen Hussien, said the 2025/26 financial year represented the first full implementation of its revised corporate strategy. Management attributed the growth to increased non-interest income, foreign-currency management and greater use of digital channels.
Return on equity reached 27 percent, while return on assets stood at 6 percent, according to the bank’s annual report.
Gadaa Bank began operations in December 2022, making the latest results notable for a lender still in its early years of operation.
