Ethiopian Securities Exchange Launches “Neway” Mobile Trading App to Expand Investor Access
The Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX) has launched its first digital trading platform, introducing the “Neway” mobile and web application designed to expand public access to Ethiopia’s emerging capital market.
Announced in Addis Ababa on March 05, 2025, the new platform allows investors across the country to access the securities market digitally, enabling them to open trading accounts, track market activity, and execute transactions remotely. The launch marks a significant step in the modernization of Ethiopia’s financial sector as the country continues to develop its capital market infrastructure.

The “Neway” application is designed to support both new and experienced investors. Through the platform, users can onboard remotely, monitor market trends, trade equities and fixed-income instruments, and track portfolio performance in real time. The digital system is expected to lower entry barriers and transaction costs, helping broaden participation in the country’s capital markets.
The trading platform was developed through a technology partnership between ESX and Infotech Private Limited. The application is integrated with the exchange’s Broker Back Office (BBO) and Order Management System, allowing brokerage firms to streamline operations such as client onboarding, order processing, and reporting.
According to ESX leadership, the introduction of the platform represents an important milestone in the development of Ethiopia’s financial markets. Tilahun Esmael Kassahun (PhD), Chief Executive Officer of ESX, said the launch aligns with the exchange’s vision of building a modern and accessible securities market.
The name “Neway,” which translates to wealth or asset, reflects the platform’s goal of expanding financial participation by enabling more Ethiopians to invest directly in the country’s economic growth.
The digital platform is also expected to improve operational efficiency for trading members while enhancing transparency and accessibility in the market.
