Enat Bank Registers 6.8 Million Existing Shares With Capital Market Authority
ECMA approves registration of 6,785,310 existing shares held by Enat Bank shareholders
The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) has approved the registration of 6,785,310 existing shares of Enat Bank S.C., marking another step in the bank’s engagement with Ethiopia’s developing capital market.
The Authority approved Enat Bank’s Registration Statement on August 27, 2026, in accordance with Article 75 of the Capital Market Proclamation No. 1248/2021 and Articles 4 and 29 of the Public Offer and Trading of Securities Directive No. 1030/2024.
The registered securities comprise 6,785,310 existing shares held by the bank’s shareholders.

Registration Is Not an Offer
ECMA stressed that the announcement is solely intended to notify the public of the registration of the securities.
The Authority said the registration should not be interpreted as an endorsement of an offer, an offer to sell, or a solicitation of an offer to buy the securities.
This distinction means the announcement itself does not indicate that the registered shares are currently being offered to the public or that investors can immediately purchase them.
Another Step in Ethiopia’s Emerging Capital Market
The registration comes as Ethiopia’s capital-market infrastructure continues to take shape following the establishment of the Ethiopian Securities Exchange and the operationalisation of the Ethiopian Capital Market Authority.
Under Ethiopia’s capital-market framework, securities offered to the public are required to be registered with ECMA.
Enat Bank’s registration therefore places its existing shares within the formal regulatory framework for securities registration, although the Authority’s notice does not specify any subsequent public offering, listing or trading date.
The development will nevertheless be closely watched as commercial banks increasingly interact with Ethiopia’s emerging securities market and as companies explore new mechanisms for raising and mobilising capital.
For Enat Bank shareholders, the registration also provides a formal regulatory step for the existing shares covered by the Registration Statement, while any future offer or trading activity would require the relevant regulatory and market processes.
