Dashen Bank’s Super App achieves 220 Billion Birr in transactions.
Dashen Bank has recorded more than 220 billion birr in transaction value through its Super App, underscoring accelerating digital transformation within Ethiopia’s banking sector.
Since its launch in January 2025, the platform has attracted over 2 million users and processed upwards of 23 million transactions, positioning it among the country’s most rapidly adopted digital financial services.

The Super App was introduced as Ethiopia’s first integrated banking “super application,” combining retail and business banking functionalities into a single digital ecosystem. Services available on the platform include instant fund transfers, QR-code payments, virtual card issuance, and Sharia-compliant interest-free banking options.
Beyond conventional banking features, the application incorporates AI-enabled self-onboarding with digital identity verification, enabling customers to open and activate accounts remotely. Additional tools such as personal budget management and “Chat Banking,” which facilitates fund transfers through messaging interfaces, reflect the bank’s focus on embedded financial services.
The platform also extends into lifestyle and commerce integrations. Through partnerships with third-party service providers, users can book flights, access entertainment services, and make purchases using the app’s “Three Click Shopping” functionality.
The rapid growth trajectory follows an earlier milestone in October 2025, when the bank reported reaching one million active users within nine months of launch. Daily transaction volumes have since expanded significantly, contributing to the cumulative turnover of 220 billion birr.
Dashen Bank’s Super App success mirrors Ethiopia’s evolving financial sector, where digital platforms are key to acquiring customers, boosting transaction efficiency, and promoting a cash-lite economy. As mobile banking competition grows, integrated apps offer a strategic advantage for commercial banks.
